With its aspirations to be the number one luxury car maker in the world, Cadillac needs something to compete with the ultra-luxurious sedans. They need something that can rival the likes of BMW’s 7 series or Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class, and that is exactly what Cadillac plans to do.
The current flagship Cadillac is the CTS, even with its many variations it has nothing to challenge the top of its class. The new Cadillac, whose name has been shrouded in mystery ever since Cadillac announced their intent to build, will likely be bigger, faster, and more luxurious than the XTS sedan that will be released next year.
However, we do not expect it to be quite as extravagant as the 1,000 hp, 16-cylinder Cadillac Sixteen concept (pictured above) that was debut years ago in Detroit. That car was meant to be a $300,000 competitor to the Rolls-Royce’s of the world. The top-end Cadillac sedan will likely come in well under half that price tag.
While the new super luxury sedan is still relatively in it infancy, and the project could potential die, but well-informed insiders expect Cadillac’s top brass to green-light the project soon. The success of this car, which Cadillac will need to be profitable even at low volume sales, will help the luxury car maker in its quest to dominate their market segment.
