A couple weeks ago we did a blog with a few great tips that you can use to keep your car running strong in the hot summer heat. Well today we’d like to add on to that list with a few more helpful tips! Keep reading for the second installment of our “Summer Car Care” blog series:
- Check your tires. When a thunderstorm pops up out of nowhere and starts dumping rain on your car while you’re driving down the highway, you’ll want to be sure you have some tread on your tires so you won’t hydroplane. Use the penny trick to see if your tires are good-to-go, or if you need to replace them.
- Change your oil and oil filter. Oil is the lubricator that keeps all the many moving parts in your car working the way they should. Don’t put this off for another 2,000 miles! You should especially change your oil and oil filter of you are about to head out on a family roadtrip.
- De-winterize your car. Lots of people put snow tires on their car in the winter. However, snow tires can greatly reduce MPG when they’re used on regular roads, so make sure you’ve got four all-season tires on your car when summer rolls around. Also, the end of winter is a great time to make sure all fluids under the hood are topped off.
So there you have it! Part two of three in our summer car care blog series. We hope these are helpful! And always remember – if you need any help whatsoever keeping your car in peak condition; be sure to stop by the service center here at Plaza Cadillac in Leesburg, FL.
