We’ve known for a while now that the Cadillac ATS-V was going to come in even more powerful version. But we didn’t know exactly what would be powering this supercar.
As Motor Trend noted, the ATS-V was made to house a V8. So, which engine will power the latest, greatest version? Turns out, the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V+ powertrain will be “the 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 used in the Camaro Z/28 and C6 Z06.”
This engine is handmade with love at General Motors’ Bowling Green assembly plant. As Motor Trend noted, this engine is good for 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque as shown in the Camaro Z28.
Power from the 7-liter LS7 V8 will be sent to the wheels of the new ATS-V via a seven-speed manual gearbox – the same transmission found in the Corvette. Of course, there will also be an eight-speed automatic available. To make things even more interesting, Motor Trend said that a “quick-shifting dual-clutch gearbox should arrive later.”
