Every now and then, a car comes along that takes even the most cultured automobile fanatics by surprise. To do so, a design needs to stand out among a sea of sedans and coupes. The Cadillac Escala concept car does this, exceeding subtleties with design standards outside of modern ideas.
The Cadillac Escala concept looks something like the car of the future. You can almost picture the Jetsons piloting one of these four-door sedans. Not yet in production, and with no promises to ever come to fruition, the Escala is, indeed, Cadillac’s vision of the future. The concept car was introduced to give fans a preview of the direction of design and technology that Cadillac plans to take moving forward.
The preview was full of good indications. The smooth, sleek exterior has an outright unique silhouette. The front and back windows sweep across the car uninterrupted, with no body pillar between the two. A twin-turbo, eight-cylinder engine pushes the car along on its 22-inch “monkey spoke” wheels.
The inside of the Cadillac Escala is covered in textiles inspired by men’s suits, creating elegance everywhere possible. This is accompanied by walnut wood and leather trim, plus technology for both driver and rear seat passengers. Whether or not the Cadillac Escala ever goes into production, the concept car promises first class experiences on the Cadillac horizon.
